Global container freight rates continue soaring amid an early peak season and prolonged Red Sea disruptions. Leading carriers including MSC, Maersk and CMA CGM have announced new tariff increases effective July.
Asia–Europe, Mediterranean and North Africa routes see the strongest upward momentum, with the highest comprehensive rate approaching USD 13,000/40HC. New Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) and carbon-related fees will apply for dry, reefer and special equipment.
Driven by advanced seasonal restocking, continuous Cape of Good Hope detours and rising fuel costs, market uptrends are expected to persist through July and August. Shippers and forwarders are advised to secure space early and prepare for further rate volatility.
